No-gi Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai & kids martial arts — 10 minutes from Santa Fe Dam and the I-210 corridor
Irwindale is a tight-knit community — most people know their neighbors, and when residents here go looking for martial arts training, they want somewhere that feels like a real gym, not a franchise chain. 10th Planet Covina is about 5 miles east on the I-210 corridor, right off the Citrus Ave exit in downtown Covina. Whether you're coming from the residential streets near Live Oak Ave, rolling out of a shift at one of the industrial sites on Irwindale Ave, or heading east after a morning at Santa Fe Dam, you can be on the mats in 10 to 12 minutes.
Our 4,000 sq ft facility has two dedicated training rooms — one for grappling, one for striking. We run the 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu system (100% no-gi, founded by Eddie Bravo) and Fuzion Muay Thai, with separate kids programs for ages 3 and up. Classes run morning through evening six days a week, so the schedule works whether you're on day shift, swing shift, or working from home near the quarries. Several families from the Irwindale area train here, and some parents use the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area for a weekend morning workout before heading over for our Saturday open mat.
Your first class is completely free. No contracts on day one, no hard sell after class. Come train, meet the coaches and your training partners, and decide from there.
Take Arrow Hwy east to the 210, or jump straight on the 210 from the I-605 interchange. Exit Citrus Ave and you're there in about 10 minutes — no surface street slog through multiple cities.
Morning BJJ at 8 AM before you head to the plant, kids classes at 4 PM after school, evening Muay Thai running until 10 PM. Six days a week with Saturday wrestling and open mat.
Age-grouped classes (3–5, 6–9, 10–15) in Jiu Jitsu, kickboxing, and Saturday wrestling. A lot of Irwindale kids attend schools in Covina and Baldwin Park already — the gym is right on the way.
Master the art of no-gi submission grappling with the revolutionary 10th Planet system. Classes for all skill levels from beginner to advanced.

Learn MoreIrwindale is one of the smallest cities in LA County by population, but the people who live there tend to be deeply rooted in the community. We have members who work at the Irwindale Brewery and at the quarry operations along Irwindale Ave, and families from the residential stretch near Live Oak Ave who bring their kids in after school. Because Irwindale is so small, a lot of kids already commute to schools in Covina, Baldwin Park, and West Covina — the gym is a natural stop on the way back.
For Irwindale families who want something more than rec league sports, our kids martial arts program offers structured training that builds the same kind of discipline and resilience you see in the people who built this city. The Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area is right in the neighborhood — some families make a habit of doing a morning hike at the lake, then swinging by for our Saturday wrestling class. It's a good routine.
Whether you're a day-shift worker looking to train in the evenings, a parent scouting after-school activities, or someone who just wants a real challenge beyond the gym treadmill, you'll find people like you on these mats.
Kids classes start at 4 PM — a natural stop for Irwindale families whose children attend schools in Covina or Baldwin Park.
Morning BJJ at 8 AM, evening Muay Thai until 10 PM. We run six days a week because people in this area work real hours.
Parents take Muay Thai while their kids do Jiu Jitsu in the adjacent room. Saturday open mat is a common family morning out here.
Fill out a quick waiver and meet the coach. We'll walk you through the space and answer any questions.
No-gi means no uniform needed. Athletic shorts or leggings and a t-shirt or rash guard work great. No zippers or pockets.
Beginners are paired with experienced training partners who will guide you through techniques. No one gets thrown into the deep end.
We'll answer questions about membership if you're interested, but there's zero sales pressure. Try as many free classes as you need.

Absolutely — that's how a lot of Irwindale families do it. Kids classes start at 4 PM, so the timing works perfectly for a pickup from school and a drive over. We have three age groups: 3–5, 6–9, and 10–15, and the classes run Monday through Friday. Saturday mornings have a wrestling session that families often make into a weekly routine.

10th Planet is 100% no-gi — no kimono or uniform required, just shorts and a t-shirt. The system was created by Eddie Bravo and uses a distinct set of positions and submissions built specifically for no-gi grappling. It's widely used in MMA and is effective for self-defense. You get top-level instruction without needing to invest in a gi or follow the traditional belt curriculum.
